About

Meet Julie - Founder of Dinx Design Co
I have been sewing on and off for over 40 years, but it was inheriting my sister’s sewing machine, fabrics and notions that gave me the impetus to be creative again. I have her boxes of buttons and ribbons, haberdashery, and handiwork, some I will probably never use, but I feel my sister around me and that is priceless. What I sew into everything I make is the delight and joy I feel when using beautiful fabrics and being creative. When in some way I am close to my sister again. I know that this translates into the surprised delight people feel when they look at their Anemone for the first time. It goes beyond words.
I live in North Pembrokeshire; I can see the sea from the sewing room window. I love swimming all year round, chill swimming, cold water swimming, wild swimming, I say yes to it all.
Origin Story
It started with one bag. Anemone Bag One, ‘Warrior’. I made it because I couldn’t find what I wanted. A practical, waterproof bag big enough for all my chill swimming things, that was also beautiful and a joy to use.
It wasn’t long before my wild swimming friends asked me where I had got it from, and the second Anemone Bag was ordered. Anemone three, four and five followed very quickly and a business was born.
The Anemone Bag is part of a growing collection of items that make going cold water swimming much easier to manage.
Practical, fit for purpose but not utilitarian, beautiful and a joy to look at.

Why Dinx Design Co?
Named in memory and celebration of my sister Deanna, known as Dinks, who made the most exquisite quilts and on whose sewing machine the Anemone Bag was first developed.
